രുചിയിലും ഗുണത്തിലും മറ്റു പഴ വര്ഗങ്ങളെക്കാളും മുന്നിലാണ് പപ്പായ. നല്ല വിളവ് തരുന്നതും വ്യവസായിക അടിസ്ഥാനത്തില് കൃഷി ചെയ്യാവുന്നതുമായ പപ്പായ ഇനമാണ് റെഡ് ലേഡി. പെട്ടെന്നു കേടാകാത്ത പ്രകൃതവും നിറവും മറ്റു ഗുണങ്ങളും റെഡ് ലേഡിയെ വ്യത്യസ്ഥമാക്കുന്നു. പഴുത്ത റെഡ് ലേഡി പപ്പായ ഒരാഴ്ചവരെ വരെ കേടാകാതിരിക്കും. വ്യാവസായിക അടിസ്ഥാനത്തില് കേരളത്തില് നിരവധി പേര് റെഡ് ലേഡി പപ്പായ കൃഷി ചെയ്യുന്നുണ്ടെങ്കിലും നമ്മുടെ ആവശ്യത്തിനിതു തികയുന്നില്ല. ഒന്നു മനസുവച്ചാല് നമ്മുടെ വീട്ടുമുറ്റത്തും
