പ്രോട്ടീന്‍ സമ്പുഷ്ടമായ ചതുരപ്പയര്‍

വിത്ത് മുളച്ചു വരാന്‍ ചുരുങ്ങിയത് 10 ദിവസമെങ്കിലുമെടുക്കും. വെള്ളത്തില്‍ ഒരു ദിവസം കുതിര്‍ത്ത് വച്ചു നട്ടാല്‍ വേഗം മുളയ്ക്കും. നാലില പരുവമാകുമ്പോള്‍ ചെടി പറിച്ചു നടുകയാണ് ഉത്തമം. ജൈവവളങ്ങള്‍ ചേര്‍ത്ത് ഒരുക്കിയ മണ്ണിലോ ഗ്രോബാഗിലോ ചെടികള്‍ നടാം. മണ്ണില്‍ നടുകയാണെങ്കില്‍ ഒരു തടത്തില്‍ മൂന്നോ നാലോ തൈകള്‍ മതി. ഗ്രോബാഗില്‍ രണ്ടു തൈ നട്ട് കരുത്തുള്ള തൈയെ മാത്രം വളരാന്‍ അനുവദിക്കുക.

പ്രകൃതിദത്തമായ ഇറച്ചിയെന്ന് വിളിപ്പേരുള്ള പച്ചക്കറിയായ ചതുരപ്പയര്‍ കൃഷി ചെയ്യാന്‍ അനുയോജ്യമായ സമയമാണിപ്പോള്‍. വലിയ പരിചരണമൊന്നും ആവശ്യമില്ലാത്ത ഈ വിളയെ കീടങ്ങളും രോഗങ്ങളും ആക്രമിക്കാറുമില്ല. ചതുരപ്പയറിന്റെ ഇലയും തണ്ടും കായും തുടങ്ങി വേരുവരെ ഭക്ഷ്യയോഗ്യമാണ്.

നടുന്ന രീതി

മറ്റു പയര്‍ വര്‍ഗങ്ങളെപ്പോലെ വിത്ത് നട്ടാണ് ചതുരപ്പയറും കൃഷി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. വിത്ത് മുളച്ചു വരാന്‍ ചുരുങ്ങിയത് 10 ദിവസമെങ്കിലുമെടുക്കും. വെള്ളത്തില്‍ ഒരു ദിവസം കുതിര്‍ത്ത് വച്ചു നട്ടാല്‍ വേഗം മുളയ്ക്കും. നാലില പരുവമാകുമ്പോള്‍ ചെടി പറിച്ചു നടുകയാണ് ഉത്തമം. ജൈവവളങ്ങള്‍ ചേര്‍ത്ത് ഒരുക്കിയ മണ്ണിലോ ഗ്രോബാഗിലോ ചെടികള്‍ നടാം. മണ്ണില്‍ നടുകയാണെങ്കില്‍ ഒരു തടത്തില്‍ മൂന്നോ നാലോ തൈകള്‍ മതി. ഗ്രോബാഗില്‍ രണ്ടു തൈ നട്ട് കരുത്തുള്ള തൈയെ മാത്രം വളരാന്‍ അനുവദിക്കുക. ആദ്യമൊക്കെ വളരെ കുറഞ്ഞ വേഗത്തിലാണ് ചതുരപ്പയറിന്റെ തൈ വളരുക. എന്നാല്‍ ഒരു മാസത്തിന് ശേഷം കരുത്തോടെ വേഗത്തില്‍ ചെടി പടരും. വളര്‍ച്ചയ്ക്ക് അനുസരിച്ച് ചാണകപ്പൊടി, പച്ചച്ചാണക സ്ലളി, ചാരം തുടങ്ങിയ വളങ്ങള്‍ നല്‍കാം.

പന്തലിടലും പരിചരണവും

പയറിന്റെ വള്ളികള്‍ പടരുന്ന മുറയ്ക്ക് പന്തലൊരുക്കി കൊടുക്കണം. വേലികളിലോ മതിലിലോ പടര്‍ത്തിയാലും മതി. തുടക്കത്തില്‍ നല്ല പരിചരണം നല്‍കിയാന്‍ 60 ദിവസംകൊണ്ട് പൂക്കുകയും 75 ദിവസത്തിനുള്ളില്‍ പയര്‍ പറിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യാം. ഇടയ്ക്ക് നനച്ചു കൊടുക്കുന്നതും നല്ലതാണ്. നന്നായി മൂക്കുന്നതിന് മുമ്പ് കായ്കള്‍ പറിച്ചെടുത്ത് ഉപയോഗിക്കണം.

ഗുണങ്ങള്‍

ധാരാളം പ്രോട്ടീന്‍ ചതുരപ്പയറിലുണ്ട്, ഇതിനാല്‍ ഇറച്ചിപ്പയര്‍ എന്ന അപരനാമവും ഇതിനുണ്ട്. കാത്സ്യം, ഫോസ്ഫറസ്, മാംസ്യം, ഇരുമ്പ്, പൊട്ടാസ്യം, ജീവകങ്ങളെല്ലാം ചതുരപ്പയറില്‍ ധാരാളമുണ്ട്. ഇതിലുള്ള പോലെ വിറ്റാമിന്‍ എ മറ്റൊരു പച്ചക്കറിയിലും ഇല്ലെന്നു തന്നെ പറയാം. ഇതിന്റെ വേരിലടങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്ന റൈസോബിയം മണ്ണിലെ നൈട്രജന്‍ ലഭ്യത വര്‍ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനാല്‍ മണ്ണിനും നല്ലതാണ്.

വിത്ത് തയാറാക്കാം

പണ്ട് കാലത്ത് നാട്ടിന്‍ പുറങ്ങളിലെല്ലാം ചതുരപ്പയര്‍ സാധാരണമായിരുന്നു. എന്നാല്‍ ഇന്ന് ചതുരപ്പയര്‍ കൃഷി ചെയ്യുന്നവര്‍ അപൂര്‍വമാണ്. ഇതിനാല്‍ നടാന്‍ വിത്ത് ലഭിക്കുകയെന്നതാണ് പ്രധാന പ്രശ്‌നം. ഫെയ്‌സ്ബുക്ക് പോലുള്ള സോഷ്യല്‍ മീഡിയകളിലെ ഗ്രൂപ്പുകളിലൂടെ വിത്ത് കൈമാറുന്നവരുണ്ട്. വിത്തിനുള്ള കായ്കള്‍ ചെടിയില്‍ നിന്ന് തന്നെ ഉണങ്ങേണ്ടത് ആവശ്യമാണ്. ചെടിയില്‍ നിന്ന് നന്നായി ഉണങ്ങിയ കായ്കള്‍ പറിച്ചു വെയിലത്തും ഉണക്കണം. ആദ്യ വര്‍ഷ വിളവെടുപ്പിന് ശേഷം കിഴങ്ങ് പറിച്ചെടുക്കാതിരുന്നാല്‍ മഴക്കാലത്ത് വീണ്ടും കിളിര്‍ത്ത് വരും.
